The Workshop instructor is Don Byrne, formerly Assistant Chief Counsel for Regulations for the Federal Aviation Administration. Mr. Byrne has advised numerous lawyers and technicians in the art of clear and effective writing. He received Vice President Al Gore's "No Gobbledygook" award for writing regulations in plain language. After his government career, Mr. Byrne acted as executive director of the Center for Plain Language. He is a member of The American Society of Legal Writers (Scribes) and Clarity International, an international association promoting plain legal language.
